"a new take" on an old theme
Confessing the depth of their affection
two friends separated by time realize
circumstances suggest sublimation
the story's dénouement still unsurmised
pale peachy sea shells, iridescent pearls
a grotto of undersea fantasy
aqua greens, navy blues, wavering whirls
palette of impressionist's majesty
then time telescopes claustrophobically
lots of tight close-ups of faces and eyes
all actions contained diegetically
wider angles and long shots soon applied
the film gives a sense of suspended time
a bit too dated some critics opine.
