L'Amoureux  (The Lovers)

II

Her hair was like a shining raven’s wing

Her smooth breasts were fulsome and wavering

The lovers were exquisitely  lovely

Although a prince, he would bring her coffee

every morning he would then kiss her face

She’d wear a white cotton nightgown with lace

Together they were a perfect mating

They were both so smart and so interesting

We would drive around the French countryside

their humor was the best part of the ride

We took long curving trails through pristine woods

We walked the streets of ancient neighborhoods

under street lamps and by the light of day

Sometimes I would pretend that I were they

You two were my first romantic family

for some time you have both been lost to me

I will always remember you Marie

Michel, you were the kindest man I’d seen

Times moved on and I have new family

But still you two remain the most lovely
